Jesse Mize, Sr. was born in 1779, in Virginia. On September 2, 1803, in Madison County, Kentucky, he married Jane Hughans. Jesse served in the War of 1812 with Bradley's Company. He was a Methodist circuit preacher.

Jesse and Jane had at least nine children, Nancy, born in 1805, John W., born in 1807, Vicena, born in 1810, Matthew B., born in 1812, Lewis G., born in 1814, Manervy Jane, born in 1816, Jesse Jr., born in 1818, Frank James, born in 1820, and Nathan Allen, born in 1822.

Jesse and Jane lived in Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi. Jane died in Lowndes County, Mississippi, in 1845. Jesse and three of his sons, Lewis, Jesse Jr., and Nathan Allan settled in Texas, probably between 1850 and 1860, in Panola County, Madison County, and Selby County

This web site is dedicated to Jesse Sr. and Jane. We are actively looking for their descendants. So far, we have members who are descendants of Vicena, Jesse Jr., and Nathan Allen.
